Team Awards presented by Pippa (Captain) voted for by the Green Sox
Male player of season: Justin
This was the tightest of all the awards that people voted for, with three people being in contention, Justin, Gordy and Pete. However, the winner has had an excellent season batting, fielding, and pitching (if we forget the last game !) and so the winner is by 1 vote... Justin
Female player of season: Fen
I would like to say that again this was a tight decision, but it was not, one young lady won this hands down, receiving virtually everyone's vote! And the winner is... Fen who has caught so many bullets aimed at third that she needs a new glove!
Most improved male player of season: Chris
This award is aimed at the newer players to the game and after a season with a team containing a lot of rookies the votes were again very close. But the winner is... Chris
Most improved female player of season: Be
There were two main rivals for this award Clair and Be, who both have had excellent first seasons playing softball. The voting again was extremely close but bringing her Latin spirit to the game the winner is... Be
Message from Pete
I think the team as a whole deserves an award for huge
improvement. We began at start of the season with little experience and
loads of newcomers, and had great fun, although we looked very raw against
other teams. The fun continued, I don't recall a single negative phrase,
encouragement all round, and the performance improved and improved. Slowly
hits arrived, big hits, nice plays. We got some really good outs towards
the end of the season. The Oxford Cup was a real highlight, and the final
game at Croughton was good too. Best game was beating the Chipmunks at
Bristol. This was a good, solid game, no fluke, and no bad play from the
opposition. Both teams played well, and the best team won, and that was
the Green Sox. It was a great season, I'm lucky to have been part of it,
and whole team deserves an award.
