Welcome to the Green Sox!

Welcome to a great little team with a big heart. We've been around for 8 years now, starting as the ETSU team in the days when we had carpet tiles for bases. Things have moved on a lot, but the "Green" in the name links us to our environmental consultancy roots. Our skills improve every year (Green Sox finished joint fourth in the League of seven teams in the 2003 season, and trained a new batch of rookies last season) but the emphasis has always been on having a great time.

We play mixed slowpitch softball and are part of the Oxfordshire Softball Association (OSA). We play to the International Softball Federation rules with local amendments (see OSA site).

Go to the season link for more information on our fixtures and performance this season.

For previous seasons as well as current information, look at other parts of the site including: the team roster; tournament reports; last year's awards; a rogues' gallery; and useful links. Click on the photo opposite for the Green Sox team.

New to softball?

Softball is basically underarm slow pitching baseball- with big bats and catching gloves. Teams consist of five men and five women, making it an ideal social pastime as well as a competitive sport for the more seriously minded. A great way to spend summer evenings!

All abilities welcome- so whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced player, feel free to have a go, no obligation!

Fill in our contact form if you're interested in having a go!
